Maitri Reiki, Reiki Master Teacher

My business, Maitri Reiki, is a multi-modality holistic health and wellness practice.  I am a professor and researcher (Ph.D.), author and Reiki Master Teacher.  I am certified in Usui/Tibetan Reiki, Usui Shiki Ryoho, Holy Fire Reiki, Reiki Tummo and Seichim.  I also practice Shamballa Multi-Dimensional Healing.  I often incorporate sound therapy, aromatherapy, color therapy and crystal work, and I am a member of the International Association of Reiki Professionals.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for deep relaxation, life balance, and healing on all levels.  Like other Eastern wellness approaches, such as acupuncture, tai chi, qi gong, and some forms of yoga, reiki works with the biofield.

“Maitri” is a Sanskrit word that means compassion or friendliness with oneself.   This concept is at the core of my health and wellness work, and at the core of my philosophies and – at least on my good days – my approach to life.  My goal is to help people make friendliness with themselves a high priority, so that they can live more joyful, peaceful, balanced lives.

My perspective on reiki and how it works is science-based.  We do not yet fully understand the biofield, and people often think about it as miraculous or magical.  (Long ago, the same could be said about thunderstorms, menstruation and pregnancy.)  The current estimates of how much of the human brain we understand are around 12%. I view reiki (and, admittedly, nearly everything else) as emerging from consciousness; an aspect of our human abilities.

As a researcher, my areas of expertise are gender, risk-taking and emotion.  I am currently writing a book on understanding relationships between social class and gender from a chakra perspective, as well as an academic paper on reading and interpreting oracle cards.  In addition to Usui Reiki I, II and Master training, I offer classes and workshops that bring together my research and my healing work, including “Autobiography and the Chakras,” “Earth, Water, Fire, Air… and Gender,” and “Understanding Intuition.”  In addition, I offer seven Chakra Intensives. (Please see sidebar for class description and fees.)

Because reiki provides a wide range of benefits, clients come to sessions for a variety of reasons, from stress reduction and maintaining wellness, to focusing the mind and feeling less scattered, to healing dis-ease and disorders.  Additionally, I take an intuitive-chakra approach to sessions, working through the energy centers in the body and providing intuitive feedback afterwards.

I also do distance sessions, which can be a wonderful way to fit reiki into a busy schedule - or a tight budget.  (Confession: As a skeptic, when I first discovered reiki, I drew a line at distance reiki, which just seemed like nonsense.  Now distance sessions are among my favorite things to do.  The effects are powerful, and the experience of a powerful distance session can be mind-boggling.)

Client Testimonials:

“I really enjoy my Reiki treatments- the deep relaxation, the sense of healing, the peace and calm that stay with me afterwards. Staci is a powerful practitioner, she has a gift. Be warned, it’s addictive!” – Jennifer

“I had a distance session and it was incredible! I slept better than I have in months. Great stress reliever! The next day, I was able to focus at work with a clarity I haven’t had in a long time. Looking forward to my next session!” – Karen

7:00pm -9:45pm

Enrollment cap: 15

Tuition: $45

This workshop focuses on the relationship between one’s life history and chakra health and energetic flow.  It explores how our social backgrounds, including social class, religion, education and family structure, impact our energies - even many years later.  Topics include:

            - an in-depth discussion of the seven major chakras - what they are and how to        understand them as a typology for wellness and health

            - how energetic issues of each chakra play out in our everyday lives

            - how to identify and understand your own chakra imbalances

            - how to heal recurring imbalances through autobiographical analysis

            - concrete tips for healing each chakra

The class involves individualized attention and feedback, chakra tuning, meditation, group discussion, and journaling.  Sharing life stories is not necessary, but examples are useful.

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a notebook and pad or pen for note-taking and journaling.  If you use a meditation pillow or mat, please bring it with you, along with a bottle of water.

Reiki I and II Certification

Saturday, June 11th, 1pm - 7pm

Sunday, June 12th, 10am - 6pm

Enrollment cap: 15

Tuition: $350

This 2-day course will provide certification in Usui Reiki Levels 1 & 2.  It will introduce you to the latest scholarship on energy and consciousness, and explore how reiki fits within a scientific perspective.  It covers the three levels of the benefits of reiki (emotional, physical and spiritual), blending traditional Usui techniques with Buddhist and Hindu perspectives on mindfulness, energy and overall wellness.  It emphasizes the importance of maitri, or friendliness with the self, and views self-care as crucial for the care of others.

This is a hands-on course; you will be attuned to three reiki symbols, and learn how to use them.  You will experience reiki for yourself, receive the attunements for Level 1 (which allows you to channel reiki) and the Level II attunement (which allows you to become a practitioner).  You will practice on yourself and on one another.

In addition, the course will provide an introductory overview of other healing modalities, including Reiki Tummo, Seichim, Shamballa and Full Spectrum Healing.  You will also learn various techniques for distance healing. The course also provides information about starting your own practice.

The course includes meditation.  If you use a pillow or a mat, please bring it with you, along with a bottle of water.  Please wear comfortable clothing, and bring a bagged lunch with you.  Snacks and water will be provided.
